Hello my fellow frustrated friends. I am a board certified physiatrist. A ??? you may be asking. In a nutshell, I went to school for a very long time. I graduated medical school, progressed through residency and specialized in restoring function, improving quality of life, and promoting independence for patients who have experienced illness, injury, or disability. I currently work in an acute inpatient rehabilitation unit ( more in this later) . I love what I do and patients really benefit. Unfortunately  I have  seen a disturbing pattern among insurance companies denying this type of care for qualified patients.  I do not want diminish other post acute care options, which are also beneficial to certain patients . My goal is for every patient to get the care they need and deserve. In my experience when the patient has an advocate (family or friend) we can work together to achieve this goal. I would like to educate you about the insurance system and provide other inside information. Most importantly you are not alone, I want to be in your corner for the fight!
